Drylands nations are often seen only as recipients of aid in times of crisis. This perception belies the fact that drylands nations are productive trading partners in the global economy. Goods from the drylands are used all over the world.

In Jordan, the tomatoes seen above are grown and sold in drylands. Jordan exports vegetable produce to Asia and the European Union.
