Field investigations and remote sensing data of the eastern portion of
the Mojave Desert (southern California) identified several distinct paths
of sand transport, which cross multiple drainage divides. Advanced remote
sensing data (e.g., hyperspectral AVIRIS data), combined with detailed
field measurements, are being used to study materials exposed within this
semiarid environment.
