The lunar eclipse of February 20, 2008 was visible in the evening hours for observers in most of North and South America. At 10:28 PM EST, Carlos took this real-color image of the lunar eclipse near totality, when the Earth blocked most of the Sun's direct light from illuminating the Moon. He used a Canon digital camera. It is a 1/60-second unfiltered exposure, and the image was taken from his backyard.
