National Air and Space Museum Aviation/Space Writers
Award
The National Air and Space Museum is offering a grant of $5,000, to be awarded in even-numbered years (2010, 2012, 2014, etc.), to support research on aerospace topics. The product created as a result of the grant must be in any form suitable for potential public dissemination in print, electronic, or broadcast or other visual medium, including, but not limited to a book manuscript, a video or film script, or monograph. Potential topics might be contemporary aviation or space events that are of interest to the general public; significant historical events or persons that have contributed to the advancement of human flight; a record or compendium of aerospace source material.
Funds may be used to support research travel and expenses, or to produce a product of the research as outlined above. Applicants for National Air and Space Museum or Smithsonian Fellowships are encouraged to apply for the Aviation/Space Writers Award, but recipients of the award need not be in residence at the National Air and Space Museum. Candidates should submit the online Aviation/Space Writers Award Application form, including 1) a maximum two-page, single-spaced proposal stating the subject of their research and their research goals; 2) a one to two-page curriculum vitae; and 3) a one-page detailed budget explaining how the grant will be spent.

is January 15, 2010.
