Q: When did the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center open to the public?
A: December 15, 2003.

Q: Will the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center replace the Museum
on the National Mall?
A: No. The new center
is an addition to the Museum complex and will allow the Museum
to display 80% more of the collection to the public, including
the SR-71 Blackbird, Space Shuttle Enterprise, and Boeing B-29
Superfortress Enola Gay. The Museum on the National
Mall will remain open with its key artifacts still on display,
including the Wright 1903 Flyer, Apollo 11 Command
Module Columbia and Ryan NYP Spirit of St. Louis.

Q: How do I find out which artifacts are currently on display?
A: Artifacts are frequently
moved and/or removed from display for various reasons. You
can check which major artifacts are currently on display by
visiting the individual exhibitions
pages via the Museum Map.
To be certain the artifact you want to see is on display when
you plan to visit, you should call the public information
number at: (202) 633-1000.
Many of the Museum's artifacts in storage are being moved to the Udvar-Hazy Center. See the list
of artifacts that are currently on public display at the new
facility.
Q: Can I purchase National Air and Space Museum merchandise online?
A: SmithsonianStore.com offers products from all of the institution's museums and includes a robust selection of Air and Space Museum store products. The National Air and Space Society sells memberships online. Lecture, Imax film and Planetarium tickets can also be purchased online. See below.
Q: Can I purchase Imax Theater and
Einstein Planetarium tickets online?
A: Yes. Tickets for shows
in the Albert Einstein Planetarium
or Imax Theaters can
be bought online through the central
Smitsonian theaters website. Tickets can also be purchased
at box offices in the Museum (located in front
of each theater) for any time that day or up to a week in
advance. Admission prices and concessions information are
available online in the Shows &
Schedules section of this Web site. For group arrangements or further information, see the theater's
Web site or call (202) 633-IMAX.
Q: Is there an admission charge to the Museum?
A: No. Admission is free
to all Smithsonian Institution Museums, including the National
Air and Space Museum. However, there are admission fees for
Imax films, planetarium shows, simulators, and some special programs.
