Mutual Concerns of Air and Space Museums Conference

Mutual Concerns is a unique international meeting specifically focused on the needs of the air and space museum community. The conference features general sessions, panel discussions, and presentations, with topics covering air and space history, conservation, exhibit design, fundraising, and marketing. Sessions offer everything from practical, in-depth information to timely tricks of the trade. The conference is also an opportunity to network with colleagues from around the world.

The 2008 Mutual Concerns Conference took place March 29 – April 1. Over 175 participants from air and space museum representing 130 different museums came to DC for four days to attend the educational sessions, catch up with long time associates, make new acquaintances, and enjoy fieldtrips around the area. Thanks to all our presenters, participants, and Marketplace supporters for making this another productive and enjoyable meeting.

We are in the planning stages for the 2009 conference, which will take place in Ottawa, Ontario some time in April. Specific dates will be announced as soon as venues are secured.

The Program Committee members for 2009 will be confirmed by late spring of 2008 and listed here. All proposals will be reviewed and evaluated by the committee in the fall of 2008 and all submitters will be notified on the status of their proposal by the end of the year. Mutual Concerns hosts a small exhibitor forum called the "Marketplace," featuring vendors that offer services and products of interest to museum professionals. Every year, we seek a few different exhibitors, so our attendees are able to learn about new information on each visit. We integrate the Marketplace throughout our conference and events so our attendees and exhibitors have ample time to meet and talk in a relaxed atmosphere.
