Elmer A. Sperry Award

 

Tntribution which, through application proved in actual service, has advanced the art of transportation whether by land, sea, or air." The medal was first presented in 1955 and is administered jointly by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the Society of Automotive Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. The award was founded to commemorate the achievements of Dr. Elmer A. Sperry, a pioneer of technical innovation in transportation.
