A New York City law firm specializing in transportation law, acting as counsel for plaintiffs seeking damages in air crashes. The records consist of legal files and other materials which have been divided into two major sections, a case file and a section relating to the Warsaw Convention on international airline liability. The Case File (boxes 1-115) consists of materials relating to specific airplane crashes and the resulting investigations and/or litigation, including accident reports, associated cases, Civil Aeronautics Board Hearing materials, correspondence, discovery materials, memoranda, research and technical information, clippings, depositions and exhibits. The exhibits are largely of reproductions of various airline company records which were introduced as evidence.
The Warsaw Convention materials (boxes 115-118) stem from Stuart M. Speiser's role in attempting in the 1960s to obtain a revision of the 1929 Warsaw Convention on international aviation. He took a leading role in a lobbying effort to convince federal policy makers of the need for unlimited liability of the carriers in international crashes. Includes correspondence, memoranda, press releases, newspaper clippings, etc., as well as materials from the CAB, the Interagency Group on International Aviation, and the International Civil Aviation Organization. In August 1942 Bradley received the rank of Minister to Russia for the purpose of opening an airway for the delivery of lend-lease aircraft to Russia from factories in the US through Great Falls, Alaska, and Siberia. Data documents the "Bradley Mission" including reports, messages, and memoranda of conversations with Joseph Stalin, Harry Hopkins, and President Franklin D. Roosevelt regarding the establishment of the air route and the subsequent delivery of approximately 8000 American planes to Russia in 1942. Materials gathered by Clark provide a unique and comprehensive insight into the operation of Stalag Luft III, the camp upon which the book by Paul Brickhill and the movie the Great Escape were based. Contemporary Historical Examination of Current Operations Vietnam (Project CHECO). MS 32.

The counterinsurgency and unconventional warfare environment of Southeast Asia resulted in the employment of USAF air power to meet a multitude of requirements. As a result, there existed a need to document and analyze data to assist in the development of USAF policies, concepts and doctrine during the Vietnam War. Project CHECO was established to meet this Air Staff requirement. The CHECO reports provided a contemporary, scholarly assessment of the effectiveness of USAF air power in Southeast Asia. Approximately 92 of the reports, covering a myriad of topics, have been declassified and are available for research. Written by USAF historians while on duty in Vietnam, the CHECO reports provide unique and exciting insights into the air war. A list of the CHECO reports which have been declassified is available upon request.

In addition, the collection contains working papers gathered by Clodfelter in connection with his expanded research and the subsequent publication of his book, The Limits of Air Power: The American Bombing of North Vietnam. The collection is rich in high level correspondence, memoranda and declassified CHECO reports which were obtained by Clodfelter while researching the holdings of the USAF Historical Research Center and three presidential libraries. Although the original terminal point of Gimbel's collection was the first flight of the Wright Brothers, he subsequently expanded his holdings to encompass the post-1903 period concluding with the American lunar landing.

Data collected on the Battle of Stalingrad consists of headquarters diaries and personal journals maintained by four German commanders during the battle. General Milton acquired the diaries and had them translated into English during his service with NATO. The material graphically depicts the desperate conditions at Stalingrad and the subsequent annihilation of the German 6th Army by Russian forces. General Milton also obtained a significant amount of material related to the Berlin Airlift while serving as Chief of Staff of the Airlift task force. Included are minutes of meetings, memoranda, oral histories and printed matter related to the operation of the Berlin Airlift, l948. This material graphically depicts the organization and operation of the airlift task force.

Correspondence, official reports, diaries, printed matter and photographs related to the wartime service of Henry Soderberg, a Swedish national and volunteer with the International Y.M.C.A. during World War II. Soderberg spent much of the war within Nazi Germany and kept copious diaries, photographs and official reports of his service. Soderberg's remarkable freedom of movement within Germany enabled him to record a rare picture of the conditions of prisoners of war and of the German population. He visited the Russian prisoners of war and recorded their desperate situation and was also an eye witness to the bombings of Dresden and the plight of civilians in Germany at the end of the war. Soderberg's diaries provided the basis for the book, The Welcome Swede, by Frank Diggs.

Correspondence, reports, photographs and printed matter related to his experience as a prisoner of war and as the camp commander of the Center Camp of Stalag Luft III, Sagan, Germany during World War II. The collection is rich in post-war correspondence with former German military figures including the camp commandant of Stalag Luft III, Colonel Fredrich-Wilhelm Von Lindeiner-Wildau and General Gottlob Berger, the SS Commander of Allied prisoner of war camps in Nazi Germany. There is also the account of the activities of General Arthur Vanaman and then Colonel Spivey near the conclusion of the war. The two officers were briefed by the German High Command and then sent into Swizerland armed with peace proposals to be delivered to the British and American Governments. Their exciting mission is depicted in the book, POW Odyssey, by Delmar Spivey.

The bulk of the material consists of published writings by Squier regarding engineering concepts in the field of communications, and scrapbooks of photographs, correspondence, and printed matter which chronicle Squier's personal and official activities. Subsequent material relates to Squire's civic activities in his native city of Dryden, Michigan and in Washington DC. Photographs include military and personal friends and Squier's activities and duty stations during his service with the Signal Corps.

The diary consists of a detailed account of the Korean conflict from 16 September 1950 through 20 May 1951. Included are letters, minutes of meetings, personal observations and copies of radio messages between Stratemeyer and other high ranking officers including generals MacArthur, Vandenberg, Partridge, Walker, Spaatz, Twining, O'Donnel, Ridgeway and Lemay. Also included are Stratemeyer's personal observations of the war and the officers with whom he served with an emphasis on the activities of General MacArthur. Also included is a photographic history of the Far East Air Forces which depicts thirty-five strategic targets in North Korea, 13 Jul - 26 Sep 50. P. Langley to A. M. Herring, describing Lilienthal's flight. The papers are offprints of Lilienthal's published articles, "Lilienthal's writings in possession of O. Chanute," one-page manuscript, three translations by Chanute, another translation by C. W. Shoemaker, 53 p., and ten pages of a blueprint for the Lilienthal Flyer.
