Rudy Arnold Photo Collection

The Rudy Arnold Photo Collection consistsof hundreds of negatives, glass plates and color transparencies of aviation subjects that span Arnold's career as an aviation photographer. Rudy Arnold (1902-1966) was an accomplished airman and photographed many of the major news stories of the 1920's and 1930's. He shot much of his material at New York City's Floyd Bennett Field where many of the great early long distance air races started and finished. That is where Arnold captured Wiley Post with his Lockheed Vega 5"Winnie Mae" before Post's epoch flight around the world in July of 1933. Arnold photographed many of the aircraft which flew stunt flights over the 1939 World's Fair in New York City and also shot Navy PT boats in New York's Harbor.

Samples of Arnold's many images follow.
