Possible Extrasolar Planet Imaged by the
NASA Hubble Space Telescope

May 28, 1998

This NASA Hubble Space Telescope image may show a planet outside our Solar System.  The image, taken in near-infrared, shows newborn binary stars at the center of the image and a thin nebula pointing toward a faint object presumed to be the extrasolar planet (bottom left).
The image was taken on August 4, 1997 with the Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS).
