REGIONAL PLANETARY IMAGE FACILITIES
NASA has established 16 Planetary Image Facilities located throughout the United
States, Europe and Japan. Their primary purpose is to provide scientists, students and the
general public access to a vast amount of lunar and planetary photographs that would
otherwise be costly and time-consuming to obtain.

Hubble Space Telescope
Since its deployment from the Space Shuttle Discovery in April 1990, the Space
Telescope has afforded us many spectacular views of distant galaxies, quasars, and gaseous
nebulae. It has also given us a look at planets in our own solar system including the
Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 impact on Jupiter.
