Visitors with Disabilities
Both locations offer exterior access ramps. Interior access is provided via elevators. Imax and Planetarium theaters are wheelchair accessible and most shows offer audio descriptions and/or closed captioning. NOTE: The floor of the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center is exposed concrete. Visitors are advised to wear comfortable shoes.
Wheelchair Availability
Wheelchairs are available at no charge with valid ID at both locations. Please go to the Security desk in the Museum to inquire about wheelchair availability. Wheelchairs are provided on a first come, first serve basis.
Program Reservations
The National Air and Space Museum Reservation Office is open 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, except federal holidays. Please contact the office at least two weeks in advance of your visit.
The Museum tries to accommodate all visitors. Docents are trained to give tours to children and adults with various disabilities. However, two-week advance notice is required to reserve a program.
Sign language interpreted tours may be arranged two weeks in advance of your visit. Tours are available daily at the National Mall Building and the Udvar Hazy Center. When requesting a tour, please specify the kind of interpreter required: ASL, PSE, or Signed English.
For visitors who are blind or have low vision, the National Mall Building and the Udvar Hazy Center offer audio-described docent-led tours and Discovery Stations with models and tactile components.
