Why is there a $12 daily charge for parking at the Udvar-Hazy Center?
The museum is required to charge for parking by the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority, which owns the land on which the center was built. All income generated by parking at the center goes to supporting the museum, its programs and to funding Udvar-Hazy Center construction.
Are annual parking passes available? How much do they cost?
Yes. The annual Udvar-Hazy Center parking pass is available at the regular rate of $65 each. Members of the museum's National Air and Space Society can purchase passes at the discounted rate of $50 each.
Are there any discounts for students, seniors, National Air and Space Society or Smithsonian members?
The discounted parking pass rate of $50 is available only to members of the National Air and Space Society. No other discounts are available.
Where/how can parking passes be obtained?
There are several ways to purchase a parking pass:
- In person at the Welcome Center at either the Udvar-Hazy Center or the National Mall building.
- Online using a credit card.
- By mail (download an application or request one via e-mail).
- By phone at 703-572-4102.
How do I pay for the annual parking pass?
Payment can be made by using a major credit card or by check. The museum is unable to accept cash or online cash transfers for annual parking passes.
When will I receive the pass?
Processing and delivery through the U.S. Postal Service will take up to ten business days. Visitors who apply for a pass in person will receive a voucher for parking at the Udvar-Hazy Center at no charge to use while waiting for the pass to arrive in the mail.
Can I purchase a parking pass any time during the year?
Yes. The pass will expire one year from the date of processing and holders will be notified by mail six weeks before the expiration date.
Can parking passes be given as gifts?
Yes, passes may be given as gifts. Information about the gift recipient must be provided on the application or as the shipping address for online purchases (gift messages are not currently available). A separate application form/online transaction is required for each gift pass.
If I purchase a parking pass at the Udvar-Hazy Center, will I have to pay the $12 parking fee that same day?
Visitors who submit an application on-site at the Udvar-Hazy Center for the annual parking pass may deduct $12 from their payment by enclosing a receipt for daily parking paid on the same day the application is submitted.
What is the procedure for using the pass upon arrival at the Udvar-Hazy Center?
The parking pass is an electronic card that must be swiped through a reader before the barrier allows access to the center's parking lot. The museum reserves the right to request identification of pass holders at the parking gate.
What types of vehicles may be used with the pass?
As with daily parking at the Udvar-Hazy Center, the pass may be used to park only two-axle passenger vehicles.
How many people can be in my vehicle while I use the pass?
As with daily parking at the Udvar-Hazy Center, there is no limit on the number of people you may have in your vehicle when you enter the parking gates.
Is the pass transferable?
An annual parking pass may only be used within the immediate family of the person who is named on the application.
Are there any restrictions on parking at the Udvar-Hazy Center while using the pass?
As with daily parking, vehicles may not be parked at the facility overnight and towing is enforced. Gates to the parking area open at 8:30 a.m. daily. The center is closed Dec. 25.
Can I return a pass for a refunds?
No, all sales are final and there are no refunds for Udvar-Hazy Center annual parking passes.
What if I lose my parking pass?
A $10.00 replacement fee will be assessed for each lost parking pass. Replacement fees are non-refundable.
